Privacy Policy

This page explains what personal data RouterArena collects, why we collect it, and how you can control it. Plain language, no legalese where we can avoid it.

What we collect

Information you give us

  • Contact form submissions — name, email, message content, timestamp, and your IP address.
  • Newsletter subscriptions — email address, subscription timestamp, IP, and User-Agent string.
  • Account information (if applicable) — the minimum needed to authenticate you.

Information collected automatically

  • Page views — each article and router-detail page records an anonymized view so we can surface popular content. We store IP, User-Agent, and timestamp.
  • Server logs — standard HTTP request logs retained for security and debugging.

Why we collect it

We use the data above only for:

  • Responding to your message when you contact us.
  • Sending the newsletter you opted into.
  • Understanding what content readers find useful (aggregate view counts).
  • Preventing abuse (rate limiting, spam filtering, reCAPTCHA verification).
  • Improving site performance and fixing bugs.

We do not sell your data. We do not build marketing profiles. We do not share your email with anyone.

Cookies & analytics

RouterArena uses a small number of cookies, including essential session cookies and Google Analytics for aggregate traffic measurement. We use Google reCAPTCHA to protect forms from abuse, which sets its own cookies per Google's policy.

Google AdSense may display contextual ads on our pages. AdSense may use cookies to personalize those ads depending on your consent settings and region.

Third-party services

  • Google Analytics — aggregate traffic stats.
  • Google reCAPTCHA — form abuse prevention.
  • Google AdSense — contextual advertising.
  • Affiliate networks — when you click a "Where to buy" link, the retailer may set its own cookies to attribute a potential commission.
  • Email delivery — outgoing mail is sent through our own SMTP provider. We do not use third-party marketing automation platforms.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:

  • Access — request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
  • Rectify — correct anything that's wrong.
  • Erase — ask us to delete your data (for example, unsubscribe and remove your email).
  • Object — withdraw consent for processing at any time.
  • Portability — receive a machine-readable export of your data.

To exercise any of these rights, contact us. To unsubscribe from the newsletter, use the one-click unsubscribe page or the unsubscribe link at the bottom of any newsletter email.

How long we keep data

  • Contact messages — retained while relevant to your enquiry, then archived for up to 24 months.
  • Newsletter subscriptions — retained until you unsubscribe.
  • Page-view records — retained 18 months, then aggregated into anonymous counts.
  • Server logs — retained up to 30 days for security review.

Privacy questions, data-subject requests, or suspected incidents: email us through our contact form. We respond to most requests within 5 business days and to data-subject requests within the statutory timeframe for your jurisdiction.
