Xiaomi has released the Xiaomi Smart Socket 4 in China, upgrading its entry-level smart plug with 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi 6 connectivity, local offline automation, and configurable power-draw limits up to 2,500W.
According to a September 24, 2026 report by Zamin citing iXBT, the Xiaomi Smart Socket 4 carries a standard retail price of 59 yuan (approximately $9), following an initial Xiaomi Youpin crowdfunding campaign priced at 49 yuan (around $7) that Gizmochina reported ran through September 16, 2026. The compact adapter connects directly to a home router over 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi 6 without requiring a proprietary smart home hub or intermediary bridge. By incorporating Wi-Fi 6 with OFDMA and MU-MIMO support, the plug maintains connection stability on congested 2.4 GHz wireless networks alongside dozens of competing smart home nodes.
The Xiaomi Smart Socket 4 integrates with Xiaomi Hyper Smart Connect and the Mi Home mobile app, allowing homeowners to toggle power remotely, check outlet status, and link legacy non-networked appliances such as fans and desk lamps into automated routines. Pre-configured schedules, timers, and countdown rules are stored on the plug so automated tasks continue executing locally even when the residential internet connection drops offline. A physical button on the chassis also accepts a double-press input to trigger a preset countdown timer directly at the outlet without opening the smartphone app.
An internal energy meter logs real-time electricity draw and compiles daily, weekly, and monthly consumption charts inside the Mi Home interface. To protect household circuits from overload, administrators can configure an automatic shutoff threshold in the app between 100W and 2,500W. According to Gizmochina, the hardware also includes built-in safeguards against overheating, voltage surges, and over-current faults, alongside a software child lock.
Measuring 52 by 41 by 57.6 mm, the housing occupies a smaller footprint than prior Xiaomi smart plugs to avoid blocking adjacent receptacles on wall plates and power strips. The prongs conform to updated Chinese national electrical standards by adding an extra insulation sleeve around the plug blades. Xiaomi has not yet announced international pricing or release dates for global plug variants outside China.
